A flock of sheep roam and live happily in a beautiful grassy grove, protected from ravenous wolves by a pride of lions. One of the members of the flock witnesses a scene that makes him think the lions are merely fattening up the sheep for a slaughter. He (Max), having been deceived by the alpha wolf in sheep's clothing, leads the flock away to a haven called the Great Sorrel Valley. The sheep must now govern and protect themselves without the assistance of the pride. Wolf attacks, death, mistrust, and power-hungry greed become the norm as they work out their problems and find answers in the end.
