Entertaining and informative

Historical novels are usually not my cup of tea. But Mr. Hodges has written a book that is a fantastic blend of storytelling mixed with historical fact. FREEDOM 'N ME manages to use the language of the revolutionary war days in such an effective way that instead of alienating the reader, it makes you feel like a participant. I think this is a great book for young readers as well. An excellent history lesson mixed with an entertaining and involved story. Thumbs up!

If you liked Cold Mountain, you'll like Freedom N' Me

This is a wonderful historical novel set just before the revolutionary war in the territories that later became West Virginia. The descriptions of life in the pioneer days makes you feel like you are there, and the interpersonal relationships keep you turning the pages to see what happens next. Similar to "Cold Mountain" in it's historical tone. Definitely worth reading.
