I will not critique this book. I do not yet know if the directions can be followed or the advice given is useful. I have only just received my copy of this interesting book. I will tell you one thing, it is unique. The designs, the idea and the approach are original. I also can't fault her color use. I am writing a lot of these reviews. As a buyer of these out-of-print books, I always wish there was more information about them out there. So, here I am. I am currently (ok, for almost a year now) working on a needlepoint project that has a saying *THE CHEESE STANDS ALONE*
Good choice

This book poses the question, "When is bargello not bargello?" This is a design rather than a project book although it offers a number of drawings that one could work from. What it really does is propose using shaded waves of color (ala bargello) as background stitching. The color examples in the book are different and striking. My favorite is two Canadian geese done in tent stitch flying into a petit point moon in harvest orange. The "bargello" starts in cream and moves into waves of progressively darker browns. It's very masculine, but I'd dare anyone not to fall in love with it.
