Fragmented Belonging is a collaboration between the sculptural works of Kirsten Stingle and photography of Allison Parssi, as part of Stingle's exhibition, "Sacred and Profane," at Signature Contemporary Gallery in the Fall of 2016. Stingle's original concept was to provide context for her newest works, but the result became much more than simply constructing a world in which the sculptures might dwell. While these images entice the viewer with an immediate sense of belonging, that sensation quickly dissipates within larger questions of human longing, isolation, and recognition. Approaching the subjects in a manner similar to portrait work, Parssi's keen artistic eye captures and amplifies the emotional levels in Stingle's work without dictating the narrative. With each image the viewer is drawn further into the collaboration's seductive universe and invited to create the space to explore and dream.
