This guide is designed to make fractals easy for computer enthusiasts to understand and enjoy, while giving them the practical know-how to create fractal images on their PCs.
I don't know much about computer programming, but I understood enough of this book to use it in the classroom to discuss chaos theory and fractals with high school sophomore English students reading Jurassic Park. The author gives some excellent examples of unstable systems and explains the genesis of fractals in comprehensible terms. Jurassic Park is the all-time great interdisciplinary novel, with applications to math, science, ethics, history, and computer science. And the big payoff is that the students enjoy it. This disk may not do all the fancy stuff, but it provides useful images that explain theories in a way we math-morons can understand. There's enough material for a good half-hour literature lesson; who knows what a math teacher could do with it
