I am a presidential history buff so I was excited to receive this book as a gift. It is a fascinating look at the people who helped found and shape our early nation. Grouped by contribution, such as "inventing a government", the book not only looks at well-known figures such as George Washington, but lesser known people such as Robert Morris. Each portrait includes an excerpt of a writing by the person. The only detraction was the somewhat uneven editing, with chapters even having conflicting facts. Otherwise a comprehensive overview of the founding of the United States.
