For each one of us, there is something that our lives are built on - a set of beliefs that supports and holds our lives together. Just like with a house, each one of us builds our life on a foundation. Jesus says that the quality of that foundation determines the quality of our lives:"I will show you what it's like when someone comes to me, listens to my teaching, and then follows it. It is like a person building a house who digs deep and lays the foundation on solid rock. When the floodwaters rise and break against that house, it stands firm because it is well built." (Luke 6:47-48, NLT)The foundation matters. A foundation that is laid on solid rock is one that is built well. A house that has this kind of foundation will stand against all the floodwaters. Just like that house, if our lives are set on a well-built foundation - one that's built on solid rock - we will be able to stand strong. The solid rock is Jesus Himself, and the foundation is His teaching. As we follow Him and obey, we dig deep, building our lives on this solid foundation. And we will be able to stand. What follows here are what Jesus taught us through His own life and words, the prophets who prepared the way for Him, and His Apostles. The leaders of One Hope Church have done their best to clearly and concisely explain the most important foundational truths of the Bible in these pages. We haven't said everything there is to say, but we do believe that if you will carefully, prayerfully, and submissively live out these foundations, God will help you dig deep, and lay your foundation on solid rock. The floodwaters will rise and break against your life, but you will stand firm! You will have a quiet strength, knowing that you have built well as a follower of Jesus!
