Software engineering principles, before we called it that

I read this book in college, and the lessons it imparted have served me well in my career. Like Scott Meyers' Effective C++, the point is that there are better and worse ways of approaching problems - regardless of what language you're using. This book made me realize that it was worth thinking about the problem to be solved before I started writing code. I feel fortunate to have learned that practice very early in my career.
