An excellent book for the novice or advanced bicyclist

"Follow the White Line" is a great book for anyone who is now a touring bicyclist or thinking of becoming one. Hank Martin will take you on a journey from his his very first touring experience, to going cross-country from Florida to Michigan and finally to finding his roots on a tour of England. He humorously writes of some of the mistakes he has made as a novice bicyclist in order to help the reader avoid these when planning a bicycle tour. He isn't preachy while offering many valuable tips. And he places great emphasis on safety. Some bicyling books are very technical...this is not one of them. (However, he does provide the best explanation of "gear" that I have read). He shares many of his thoughts, memories and experiences while on the road, as well as encounters with several of the most interesting "characters" he meets on the way. His love of bicycling seems to exude from his book. I have bought several to give as gifts to my bicycling friends.
