Eye Candy for Rug Hookers and Quilters

I love this book! It is full of inspiration, information and lots of wonderful photos. Very clear, concise instructions are included, as well as lots of great patterns. I especially loved Polly's color palette in her folky rugs and seeing the rugs and coordinated quilts on display in her home. For those looking for Americana themed rugs and quilts, this is a great book, as it contains several projects based on red, white & blue designs.

Wonderful Folk Art Friends

This is a wonderfully composed book with clear instructions, beautiful pictures, and interesting background. Inspiration comes from not only the projects, but from the wonderful ways the rugs and quilts are displayed in Polly's home. This is not only a must have for any quilter and hooker, but is also a tempting book for those who would like to learn either art. Donna Schultz

Looking for inspiration??

Folk Art Friends is both an inspirational and a practical how-to-book, combining two art forms...hand-hooking rugs and quilting to produce your own folk art. I am a rug hooker of just 2 years; I have never quilted, but have wanted to hand quilt a piece. This book is urging me to "go girl". Beautiful color photos, clear directions, patterns galore, resources for materials...everything a quilter and/or rug hooker would need in one book...and you can produce coordinating works! These two authors, sisters, are experts who are willing to share their ideas and techniques with others...in the true spirit of their arts. This book is a true "keeper".

Beautiful!

I knew very little about rug-hooking or quilting before reading this book, but the pictures make it worth buying, whether you want to follow the patterns or not. The quilts and rugs are truly beautiful and it makes an excellent coffee-table book. If you are into crafts and want to learn to make the quilts and rugs in this book, the patterns are presented well with good descriptions of how to follow them, making it an excellent tutorial as well as a piece of art. I highly recommend this book for both the novice and the experienced quilter or rug-hooker.

FABULOUS Folk Art Friends

Nice book.......really nice book. I've been a quilter for over 20 years and rug hooker for 12+ years. This floats my boat. Even if you're neither, the pictures of the "toys" are wonderful and not to be missed if you collect antiques. The book itself is beautifully presented. The instructions are clear and the diagrams simple. A beginner or an experienced quilter/rug hooker will have no problem with them. One of the things I like about the projects are their classical, timeless appeal. My biggest problem is which do I do first.....quilt or hook. While I ponder that one, I'm going to float my boat on page 84. Great job........love the book.
