In the 8th book of the bestselling Fly Guy series, Fly Guy falls in love Fly Guy has met his match, and her name is Fly Girl. Fly Guy can do fancy flying. Fly Girl can do fancier flying. Fly Guy can eat gross stuff. Fly Girl can eat grosser stuff. Fly Guy can say his boy's name--Buzzzzzz And Fly Girl can say her girl's name--Lizzzzzzz Fly Guy is totally impressed, and totally smitten. Will Fly Guy and Fly Girl get married and leave Buzz without his dear pet?
The students at the schools where I serve as librarian cannot get enough of Arnold's clever Fly Guy series. This latest entry may be the best yet. The images of Fly Guy and Fly Girl imagining a possible future together are just hilarious! Tedd Arnold prooves yet again what Dr. Seuss first taught us: a witty and engaging story can be written with a very limited vocabulary - especially when accompanied by wonderful illustrations.

I had the hardest time with my middle child and her learning and wanting to read. I stumbled upon the fly guy books and she absolutely loved the stinky fly stories. We have all of them now and she is one of the strongest readers in her class. She is reading above the books levels, but she still loves them so much. My youngest (age 5) daughter has started reading them too and loves them just as much! The latest edition, Fly Guy Meets Fly Girl even had me laughing it is so funny.

A perfect book for teaching kids to read

In //Fly Guy Meets Fly Girl// Buzz and Liz both have pet flies. The two youngsters meet at the park where their pets quickly fall in love. Though both of the children are happy for their flies, they are deeply saddened that they have lost their pet. The pets, too, feel some sense of loss and decide to be friends instead. I have been a volunteer reading and comprehension tutor at a local elementary school for a few months now, and I have to say this book is perfect for the children I work with. There are many things I can pull from to teach these children certain skills, like the double consonant words, and how to read with expression. Author and illustrator Tedd Arnold has made my job a little easier and has made the children's tutoring sessions more engaging. He has split the book into chapters, albeit small ones, but nonetheless there is a sense of accomplishment when a first grader masters his or her first chapter book. This is an invaluable tool for me, and would make a great addition to any home or school library. The $5.99 cover price is reasonable enough to where I can purchase the other stories in this series. Twin boys love Fly Guy. Great prices on hardcover, better than the scholastic softcover option.
