Contributing Author Shares His True Opinion of a Great Book!

One of the best memories of my life, happened just a few years ago, when I was approached to share an essay I had written about my depression and how planting flowers saved my life. I never thought of myself as a real writer, so you can imagine how honored I was when I was asked to serve as a contributing author for an inspirational book. The portion that I submitted was just a tiny component in a collection of compelling real-life stories. These are stories about the lives of a diverse array of people who are, in any of a number of unique and splendid ways, touched by Flowers and Are Forever changed. Page after page is devoted to essays, stories, and true accounts of real-life experiences that are likely to inspire us all. I've heard of many people who went from feeling the "blues" to feeling alive and happy again. Kathy Lamancusa, once again, displays her outstanding ability to format and structure her book almost perfectly. The beauty of the book begins with a cover, as you can see demonstrated in the illustration of the books cover, and ends with the very last word of the final story in her book. "Flowers are Forever" is a collection of incredible stories of regular people having extraordinary experiences in their interaction with an assortment of different flowers. In my own personal case, the very same day the tiny seeds I had planted months ago, during the depths of my depression, when I kept repeating to myself, "Even if I knew that the world would end tomorrow, I would still plant my flowers today", I pulled into my driveway and noticed that my flowers had started to bloom. I arose and awakened, that very same day, from the absolute despair of a major depressive disorder-one that had lasted many years and consumed my every bit of energy. My life began again that day. And to this very day, I don't pass a blooming flower without remembering my rise from the depths or depression and my appreciation for each and every new day.. This book would serve as a great gift for family, special friends, or how about just treating yourself to a copy? I assure you that almost everyone will find treasured readings that will touch them in a very special way. The chapters are arranged by story topic, so those who don't care to read the whole book all at once, don't have to. They can "surf" and locate chapters or sections that with reach out to whatever needs they may have. I can see why Oprah had Katy Lamancusa on her talk show. Oprah read the book and felt it was one of the best books of this very interesting genre. I hope that I've been partial and fair in this review. It isn't the sort of book that I can point out faults with. When real people share their own personal stories of triumph over tragedy, stories of flowers and people and how the two can unite in very passionate ways, it's hard to find fault. My suggestion to all who are interested is that you obtain a copy for yourself. Once you've read it, you'll likely want to share it with others-p
A must read for all who enjoy gardening and inspiration!

I'm writing to tell you that if Oprah had gotten hold of this book it would probably be on her list of the top ten books of this year. Flowers are Forever is filled with true stories of how flowers have moved people-from rich to poor, from novice gardener to expert. Page after page is devoted to real life essays and stories that with out a doubt will inspire every reader. This book has the ability to inspire even the broken hearted. Ms. Lamancusa really showed her flair as an author when she composed this collection. I even purchased additional copies for family and friends to give at Christmas.
