If you love dim sum and can't find it, buy this book!

I purchased this book once after moving away from San Francisco to the midwest and missing the Dim Sum we used to have as a treat on the weekends. Eventually, I bought a second copy because I was wearing out my original book. The recipes are authentic and delicious. I am no gourmet cook, but with this book I was able to make Chinese treats from scratch and have them come out great. I've made her recipe for char shiu bao (pork buns) and they came out as good or better than the ones in the asian markets. I also tried guo tie (pot stickers) with wonderful results. One of our favorites was "ants on a tree", which is a spicy dish with ground beef as the ants and thin rice noodles as the "tree". It turned out to be one of our favorite dishes. Lotus leaf rice and foil wrapped chicken are also favorites. They are a favorite to eat, but very sticky. Once I even made rice noodles from scratch. Without instructions on how to handle them I never would have been able to do it. The recipes are easy to follow and allow for the use of modern conveniences like food processors. In addition to the recipes there are personal stories about the dishes.
It's a classic.
