Perfect

This is the perfect light read. It gets to the "point" right away. The characters are endearing, recognizable yet enough larger than life. Elec curls your toes without feeling unattainable. There is conflict for the protagonists to resolve but it is not over the top or cheesy Three is Company level misunderstandings. My only complaint is that I stayed up too late reading, lost needed sleep and finished it only a few days..Now what do I read?

Bump Edward, I want and Elec!

What a yummy cover. I expected this book to be a fun, hot little number, but it was just so much more. Flat-Out Sexy is a modern day fairy tale and Elec is a modern day Prince Charming! Elec and Tamara are two very likable characters, who you find yourself cheering for their HEA, while some complications are thought through by Tamara. While the escapades are very, very hot (satisfaction guaranteed), this story is relationship driven and all the characters involved you come to care for. This is book one in a Racing Series, all I can say is that I hope it's the beginning of a 12 book series! The next book in the series is Hard and Fast. It will be released in May 2009 and will be the story of Imogen and Ty. She is Tamara's up tight assistant, he's the Godfather of Tamara's daughter and a playboy racecar driver. The preview in the back of the book makes me think May is a long time away! This is my first Erin McCarthy book, and I think I have another author to gobble up their backlist!!! Thank you Ms. McCarthy for a book I cannot part with!

"Flat-Out Sexy" is flat-out HOT!

Tamara Briggs had suffered a great loss when her husband died tragically in a racing accident two years ago, but now she has a good life with her two young children and her teaching job, and she's just starting to get out there and date again. Her initial results are rather disappointing, until one evening she literally runs into a man that flips her switch in a big way. She's not into one-night stands, but Elec Monroe makes her crazy hot, and she's willing to be a little daring and wild if it makes her feel this good. Until the next morning when she wakes up in bed with Elec, and finds out two things she hadn't known: that he's a race car driver in his own right and not part of the pit crew like she thought, and that he's several years younger than her. Now she's torn. Can she really carry on a fling with this sexy man with such odds against her? She thought she could, but when a family rivalry is revealed, Tamara decides she's not ready to put up with the complications of dating another race car driver. Only some well-meaning friends have other ideas, and before she knows what's happening, the wretches set it up so her and Elec and thrown together again, and this time the chemistry between them is too overwhelming to deny. Tamara agrees to continue seeing Elec as long as they keep it on the down-low, so she has time to get used to the idea. She knows that Elec could has his pick of beautiful women who are in it just for their brief moment of fun, but the thing is, Elec's already been there and done it too many times that it's lost its appeal. What he wants is a connection with a real woman, and he thinks he's found something special with Tamara. He wants to take her out and meet her kids and treat her the way she deserves to be treated. And after spending more time with Elec, she realizes that he truly does want to be with her and no one else. But what will her family think of her and Elec together, and can she once again handle the very real danger that Elec faces everytime he gets behind the wheel? In an industry currently flooded with historicals and paranormals and over-the-top world-building and outrageous situations, it was pure pleasure to sit down with a straight-up contemporary that didn't have 5 different storylines going on, but instead focused on the budding relationship of two ordinarary people who unexpectedly meet and fall in love. This is why I read romance. For that connection, for that amazing chemistry between two people that overwhelms their common sense and has them doing whatever fancy manuveuring and scheduling they can just so they can be together for a few hours, until what starts out as a fling ends up growing into something so much deeper, so much stronger than either one of them ever expected. I loved how Erin addresses Tamara's major concerns about getting involved with Elec - how it will affect her children, their age difference, him being a race car driver - and resolves them satisfactorily without focusin

Between men and women there is no friendship possible. There is passion, enmity, worship, love, but

After losing her husband to a stock car accident two years ago, Tamara Riggs is a single mother and widow at the age of 32. She is just getting back into the dating scene when she meets a young rookie driver, Elec. Not really wanting to get involved with another race car driver, Tamara is convinced that keeping it light and casual is the only way to go, unfortunately that gets harder and harder to do. I loved this book and I think it is going to be an awesome series. Erin McCarthy cracks me up and she had me laughing out loud throughout this book. Tamara's friend Suzanne was a laugh riot and her outspoken and blunt ways quickly won me over. Erin McCarthy books are always extremely fun, humorous and a whole lot sexy. This one was no exception; I loved it from start to finish. Mixed in with all the sizzle and humor is a lot of emotion and depth. Tamara has a lot of reservations about herself and dating after all these years and is concerned about doing what's best for her kids. I adored Elic from the start; he has a lot of heart and was a hell of a good guy. It's great to read about a hero that can be sexy as hell, genuinely decent, and incredibly exciting. I can't wait to read the next one and look forward to more stories about this group of characters! Hard and Fast Cherise Everhard, November 2008
