William Wharton, a corporate CEO who is a sponsor of a NASCAR racing team comes up with a scheme to fix the Daytona 500 when he learns that the Japanese are going to be entering a foreign made car and driver. William, a former Navy pilot in the Vietnam War, has struggling auto dealerships and a grudge to bear against his perceived Asian enemy. As the scheme unfolds, everything goes to plan until William's oldest son, a former driver who hates William, falls in love with Regina Winston, President of NASCAR. When the two discover the fix and try to stop it, they become the hunted. Vinny Clouthier, security chief for Wharton enterprises who has huge gambling debts and is controlled by the Atlantic city casino syndicate, double-crosses everyone and murders and attempts to kill anyone who gets in his way.
