One of the best of the series

This episode reunites our usual five friends: Julian, Dick, Anne, George, and her faithful dog Timothy of course. This time, the five are off to a small Cornish fishing village for a restful holiday at a local farm and they make a half hearted pact not to fall into one of their usual hair raising adventures. But the quiet days of wandering the farm and the local coastline are soon shattered by strange people prowling around at night. The five toss their pact to the winds and hurry to investigate, of course, And they soon find themselves in the middle of yet another thrilling adventure filled with mysterious flashing lights, a young cornish boy who is impossible to get rid of and traveling Barnies. This installment in the series is particularly memorable for the hilarious horse named Clopper, the inarticulate Mr Penruthlan (the indistinguishable conversation between Mr Penruthlan and his wife had me laughing so hard I nearly fell of my chair) and an unusual twist at the end.

These series are excellent!!

when i was a kid of 7 or 8 my mom got me interested in books by Enid Blyton, like Famous Five, Secret Seven, and those Adventure series. I just loved famous five and in fact have read all 21 of their regular books. In addition to that i also read their special editions, around 10 . These books are so addictive, once my father even told me u shouldnt read that much , u're studies might get affected, or i'll weaken my eyesight! haha! but in reality these really capture the imagination of a young kid and i highly recommend them to any kids new to reading novels

Extra-ordinarily interesting

I could not put it down once I started reading it. After I finished reading the book, I felt sad. I have read the book two times in two days!

Children have holidays and adventures with Kiki, the parrot.

I was first introduced to these books of Enid Blyton by my fifth grade teacher who read us a chapter every morning after we had gotten to school. The first book which I remember as being call "Kiki, The Parrot", was the first in a series of books involving the escapades of four or five children and Kiki, the parrot, who always seemed to rescue the children from whatever jam they were in, by his ability to talk. The children were always drinking ginger beer; the mother had a male friend they called "Uncle Bill". I have been searching for these books for years, and would love to own copies.

One of my alltime favorite series as a kid

I started reading Enid Blyton's series in second and third grade and never stopped. My older cousin told me they were too scary for me and then I HAD to read them! Blyton wrote several series that had the same sets of kids involved in all sorts of adventures. Real adventures with smuggling and foggy nights, secret passages and hidden caves. The "Five" books were about three siblings, their cousin George (a girl) and her dog Timmy. The "Adventure" series had Jack, Mary Ann, Dinah and Philip with occasional appearances by the mysterious adult Bill. It's been 20 years since I've read these books and I STILL remember their names because the stories were so exciting. These series encouraged me to keep reading more books because I always wanted to know what happened next. They completely changed my attitude towards books and made me an insatiable reader.I'd guess they are written for the 3rd-4th grade level, but could be good for older rea! ders too. They are much more popular and available in Britain.
