Young couples contemplating marriage or in the early stages of marriage often seek guidance through book such as this one. My fear for this book, it was written over 20 years ago and with the retro looking cover featuring a young couple that looks to be straight out of the 70's may cause many couples to dismiss the book before giving it a chance, thinking perhaps THE FIRST TWO YEARS OF MARRIAGE, to be outdated for todays couples. I urge you not to judge this book by it's cover. The book is not a particularly interesting read, and at times is rather mundane. Nonetheless, the content is quite insightful and applies yet today. Christianity is a focus here, yet the book is not overly religious. I found particularly helpful, the chapter on dealing with in-laws and friendships and how to set the necessary boundaries for each. There are countless resources available for building a better marriage. Don't overlook this one. The overall principles here are just as meaningful and applicable today as they were then.
