amazing

I bought this book initially because it had a chapter on the Outer Hebrides, and I was very interested in that remote part of the world. Since buying it, I have handed it to many friends I thought would enjoy it - and they all have loved it: the writing and the photography, the author's insight and lack of judgmental prejudices. The entire book is simply so amazing: views of people and cultures that most Americans don't know exist, ways of living we in the West cannot imagine or comprehend. This is a book of joy.

This book offers one a life-changing experience. A chance to view the world and its inhabitants in a pure, simple and beautiful light. I read this book many years ago and consider it my very favorite - I continue to read all of Ethan Hubbard's books and only wish there were more authors and people with his view of the world.
