My daughter reads at a 3rd grade level and loves dionsaurs. This book has a lot of information without being too high of vocabulary for her to understand. It is full of large, colorful pictures. I would say it is perfect for a 1st-4th grader with a love of dinosaurs. I am very impressed with this book.
Great Book

My daughter, almost five, loves this book. It locates the development of life on earth from early sea creatures through dinosaurs to humans and other mammals on an easy to understand prehistoric timeline beginning with the formation of the earth. A wonderful introduction to prehistory for curious youngsters and a simple review for adults as well. If you have a problem introducing your children to the basics of science, including the evolution of humans (even Christian ones) from apes, then yes, you'll have a problem with this book. For most parents though, this book is great. It's comprehensive, without being overly detailed, and the illustrations are perfect -- realistic enough to be engaging, but not frightening.
Fantastic

My 7-year-old loves this book. We checked it out from the library, and enjoyed it, now we will buy it to keep. Illustrations are good. Does contain evolution...take it or leave it, but your child will encounter it someday so it might as well be with you when you can explain it to them and discuss.
