I've read Norma Harris's books before and loved them but this was the best. This one out-Krantzes Judith on stories about people who live in glamour and luxury but have come from poor circumstances. This is a real sexy potboiler. It even has some of the Hope Diamond history in it. A young girl starts her life in France and (without my giving away the plot), finds her primary life in New York City as the owner of several round-the-world nightclubs all called "Firefly" a nickname given to her by the one man she truly loves. She has enormous success with these clubs (ala Regine) then comes into conflict with powerful people who want to "buy" her business and use it for their own purposes. Best of all, a stranger comes into her life and turns it upside down. (that will slay you) But the heroine is a fighter in the truest sense and takes care of herself and those she loves.
