good self-help read

Shad Helmstetter has written many books. This happens to be one of the few that I have bought and read. The title was interesting to me so I took a chance and was rewarded with a typical Helmstetter book. He has put together 30 "suggestions" for one to think about and incorporate into your life to aid in keeing your mind and sirit young. Perhaps it will even help with your body. As with any Helmstetter book, what you get out of it is what you put into the work of the book. J. Robert Ewbank author "John Wesley, Natural Man, and the 'Isms'"

A concicse synthesis of many success themes in one volume

In this book, Shad Helmstetter abandons his usual style, that of a practitoner giving instruction, in favor of a style where he acts as a storyteller who weaves a tale of discovery, couching the profound truths of self-identity and self-improvement in the guise of an entertaining adventure involving a magical pair of eyeglasses which enables the wearer to see the world and himself as it actually is, not as he has been led to believe it to be. In wearing these eyeglasses, the wearer comes to see that the principle of the self-fulfilling prophecy is true, and that what people believe is real will in fact shape how people live, think, and act (or not act), and thus the nature of reality is impacted by a person's perception of the nature of reality. While this is an oft-quoted axiom in the literature of self-improvement, Shad does not stop here. A real treat to the reader ensues as Shad presents a collage of ideas, principles, and governing laws of human behavior which have been found in previous works of self- improvement by other corroborating authors. But instead of having to read a dozen books for the few gems found in each one, Shad Helmstetter gathers into one extraordinay volume the entire collection of jewels which have been scattered throughout and buried within practically the whole body of self-improvement literature to date. A must-read for those who wish to craft this work of art which we call our life, using the tools of belief and choice
