The gospel offers us the unmatched gifts of peace, happiness, and joy, but sometimes these promises seem elusive and unattainable. In his familiar, warm style, Elder Richard G. Scott of the Quorum of... This description may be from another edition of this product.
I'm amazed how the author defines not only terms, but life situations in ways that almost identical, which leads to a concept of a future which makes the unfolding of peace, happiness, and joy a certainty. This is about optimism, but not positive mental attitude thinking. The focus is on one bringing one's life into an alignment with principles that are true, and yet not simply true because they are convenient or they "work", but are true because they bring forth the fruits of change. This is very important because of the role of denial and how this impedes change. Yet here, you see that change is not just something that is required to get the reward, so to speak; but instead it is driven by what we seek in life and the effect of how happiness, joy, and peace functions in our individual lives and collectively. It is an amazing book by an extremely kind hearted, appropriately concerned, highly intelligent, very insightful, and inspired man who writes in a manner that goes directly to one's heart.

I purchased this book two months ago and have already read it twice. Scott speaks with warm, conversational tones as if he were sitting in the living room with you. This book is his wisdom acquired over several decades. It is a treasure! I wish I'd had this book when I was a teen and young adult. It's like a handbook for spiritual life! I plan to give it to all my children as well as other teens.
Definitely lives up to title!!!

I am accustomed to breezing through books in one sitting, but this one was really worth savoring... and I marked what felt like a gazillion passages to both re-read and share. Extremely uplifting, and made me want more of that oft-elusive "peace, happiness, and joy"... only now I feel more armed to claim them!
Captivating
