Fighters in Service

Once again this is a outstanding litter book in this series Joon well done thank

Great history of Cold War Fighter Aircraft.

This book is a great reference book for Cold War buffs and modelers alike. The book is split in two sections, the first being pictorial. Each aircraft is viewed, on glossy paper, from the top/bottom and side in full markings of the mid-sixties. Accompanied with each picture are - country of origin, aircraft specifications and type - fighter, fighter bomber, interceptor, reconn or trainer. The second section contains a brief history of each aircraft which include manufactors, production numbers and the nations flying them at the time of print. From the Thunderbolt to the Blackbird, its all here. The first copy I received in 1969 from my father (the copyright was dated 1967) and I refered to it extensively while building model kits. It dissapeared in the early seventies after several moves. But, while scouring a used book store here in Greensboro, N.C., I found a copy also coyrighted in 1967 and it brings back alot of memories of those model building years. Kenneth Munson also put out Bombers In Service Since 1960, a companion book to the Fighters book. For those interested in civil aviation there is also his - Airliners Since 1946. These books are an absolute must for aviation buffs. The Cold War is very real in all of these titles... The Russians are coming, the Russians are coming!!!
