I loved this book!

Meg is a shy, quiet 12-year-old girl who has a passion for drawing. Everything would be fine if it weren't for her 10-year-old brother. He teases and torments her mercilessly and is constantly looking for ways to get his older sister in trouble. Julia, age seven, looks up to Fred and therefore she often sides with him. But Meg is too kind to tell her parents about the meanness, and besides, Fred would make her look bad in front of them if she did. Meg's family thinks that drawing is a frivolous activity, and therefore she must hide her drawing from Fred, who loves to tattletale. She often sits up late into the night, drawing pictures by the candlelight that she stashes in her drawers afterwards. Meanwhile Fred continues to be a great burden to Meg. He taunts her and scolds her for drawing. He is even the cause of a serious accident - but Meg doesn't tell, as usual. Then Meg gets stuck in a snowstorm. She becomes sick - very sick. The doctor says that she has been like this for quite some time, explaining the enormous tiredness that had been hanging over her recently. Will she ever recover? Will Fred realize that she's not just faking it and begin to act kindly to his sister? What about the mysterious boy, Damon, that she sees while sneaking out the art university.
