A work of true Christian, and historical literature.

I highly recomend this book to anyone who is serious about studying American/Canadian or Church history. It is an eye opening book. From the first few pages I was hooked. I couldn't put it down. It is well worth the time spent reading it. People of our day need to be informed about the truth of the Catholic Church, the Jesuits and their plots. All that glitters is not gold, and Chiniquy does an exellent job of pointing that out. If you read this book, you will see the disillusionment and discouragement he experienced. Chiniquy surely must have been a man of great charicter and integrity. This book proves the power of God's precious word, and the clear fact that the "church" of Rome hates that book and all it represents. If you sincerly desire to know the truth, read this book!

"50 Years.." A MUST read for Bible believing Christians!

This book exposes the dangers of the Roman Catholic System, and lays bare the roots of corruption out of which it often springs. It also examines convincing evidence that Rome had a great hand in the assasination of Abraham Lincoln, as well as being an inciting force in bringing about the Civil War. This is an excellent book from which to draw information about the snares of the Roman system, to empower Bible believing Christians to lovingly win them to Christ! Also, see "The Two Babyons" by Alexander Hislop to have a greater understanding of how Roman theology is derived directly from the pagan Babelonian worship of Nimrod and his wife, and not from God's word. The proof is incontrovertable, and quite revealing, as is Rev. Chiniquy's record of his conversion and salvation. I highly recommend them both to those who are concerned for the well being of Roman Catholics. "50 Years in the 'Church' of Rome" is quite simply one of the best books I have ever read!

50 years in the Church of Rome

I was raised in the shadow of Charles Chiniquy in the town of St. Anne, Ill. Chiniquy was raised with the Bible and for some reason the church abandoned it. This is the main storyline and the rest is what can happen if you listen to the words of man and not the Bible. In the new church that he founded the Bible was ever present until the 50's when they took it out of the church as it "distracted the pastor". The congregation followed his talk with an open Bible and made sure that he stayed true to the word. When they took the Bible out of the Church I quit going to the church.Incidently, my Grandmother told me that there was reason to believe that A. Lincoln was murdered because he defended Chiniquy. The trial was mentioned in the book.He also wrote "The Priest, The Woman, and the Confessional". He also wrote "40 Years in the Church of Christ".When you read the book keep in mind that the lesson was the reading of the Bible, and the rest was just what could happen.

A must read for religious history buffs

Superb review of the Catholic church and its dealings in eastern Canada and the Illinois/Michigan area in the last century, including seldom discussed details of the Abraham Lincoln assassination. The incredible story of a priest's desire to remain in the Roman Catholic church and the choices he was faced with as he came up against the church hierarchy. A real eye-opener, and hard to put down. If you start it, make sure you have time to finish it.

Catholic priest expose Churches greed and corruption!

To read first hand knowledge of the early beginnings of the Catholic churches entry into this country is facinating. To see a good priest stand up to his corrupt superiors is one to admire. The chapter dealing with Abraham Lincoln and who was behind his assination is something I never learned up until know. I highly recommend this book, it won't disappoint you!
