Fibro-osseous lesions are a benign group of lesions in which normal bone is replaced initially by fibrous connective tissue and over a period of time, it is in turn replaced by osteoid and cementoid tissue. It can affect both long bones and craniofacial bones. Among these, those affecting maxillofacial bones involve a diverse group of pathologic conditions like developmental lesions, reactive or dysplastic diseases, and neoplasms. Even though these diverse groups of lesions differs in respective aetiologies, they have a similar histological appearance, making clinical diagnosis difficult based on microscopic features alone.
