Excellent Resource but you should buy the new one.

This is an excellent resource for background on the festivals and commemorations in the Lutheran Calendar. However the calendar has changed a bit since this was published some twenty years ago so I'd suggest you get the new one. Same author.

I needed a resource for a class I am taking at a Roman Catholic seminary that would relate to the ELCA Lutheran perspective. Where is there a place to find information on each of the festivals and commemorations found in the Lutheran Book of Worship and more importantly, the new Evangelical Lutheran Worship? Here it is. All of the information you need on each person or subject matter as well as the Collect prayers for Episcopal, Roman, and Lutheran Churches, suggested Prayer of the Church petitions, hymns appropriate for the occasion. Historical references are complete and pragmatic including a historical account of the sign of the cross given for Holy Cross Day in September.
