Nipper sent me a copy of her book and as I read it, I wondered why I had not heard of her before. She is a fine writer and her book has a great plot. "Dames, booze and murder" is what "Femme Noir" is all about. Nora Delaney is a women's basketball coach and she is notorious in both athletics and womanizing. As she pursues a crime, she travels all over to get to the bottom of it. She meets her nemesis in another womanizer who is a heavy drinker and gorgeous. Nipper has written a wonderful satire of crime noir. She plays with those titles that are centered on the image of the femme fatale and she pulls it off beautifully. Adroit characterization and an interesting plot make this book a pleasure to read. Clara Nipper has captured the beauty of satiric prose and aptly puts it down on the page for all to enjoy. Even though this is a book about lesbians, that does not mean that others cannot enjoy it. There is something about this book that pulls you in and won't let you go until you have finished it. Take my advice and don't miss this one.

It's a wild, racy ride that keeps you on your toes and doesn't let you down. Sharp, entertaining writing keeps you coming back for more. It's one of those books you stay up late at night for just so you can get in a few more thrilling pages. You won't be disappointed!
