Stories that make you think...

I'm always interested to see how an author handles a "theme". In Feminine Wiles, John Grover has chose to focus on villains, specifically, the female variety. I enjoyed nearly every single story in this outstanding collection. Grover handles the themes of betrayal, lust, greed, and a host of others with a deft, knowledgeable hand. He has a gifted ear for dialogue and a firm grasp on his characters. Many of the stories were well thought out and led in directions that weren't expected. In this area, Grover excelled, I believe. Taking a simple idea and building the suspense and horror and turning something that would normally be mundane into something truly amazing. Amazing!

I have followed John Grover's career for years and I can safely say hands down, this book is his master work. He is a new voice on the rise in the field of horror and an author you should certainly give a shot if you haven't already.

Master of the Macabre

John Grover is "Master of the Macabre" ! I love reading Stephen King and Dean Koonz and John Grover is right up there in the same class. One thing I can predict is that he will draw you in with the first sentence. What I can't predict is the ending; always full of twists and turns to keep you guessing. Devilishly entertaining reading.
