Another great Everworld book...

"Fear the Fantastic" is the sixth book in KA Applegate's Everworld saga. Following their escape from the Fairy Land and possible incineration by the Nidhoggr dragon, Christopher, David, Jalil and April find themselves in Hetwan country. Here they encounter Dionysus and Ganymede, two gods who have been condemned to death by Ka Anor. In a forest surrounded by Hetwan, their only choice is to help the gods escape and join them on their journey to Olympus. But first they must pass through the city of Ka Anor. This was the second Everworld book I have read so far. The story is fast paced and keeps you reading right until the end. The descriptions are amazing and Christopher's narration adds plenty of humour. I think that overall I preferred my previous one, #8 Brave the Betrayal, because the descriptions of Africa were so vivid. I thought Fear the Fantastic stood on its own less well and was harder to read if you knew little of the story background and character history. The fact that the plot can be quite hard to understand when you haven't read the earlier books in the series is my only fault with this. Apart from that, this is young adult fantasy at its best. I would recommend "Fear the Fantastic" to all fans of KA Applegate and will definitely by buying more titles in this series.

So THIS is where K.A. Applegate has been hiding!

My daughter is a big fan of the Animorphs series, but quite franky, that series has faded into a shadow of its former self. Now I know why. Applegate's energy and imagination is fully evident in the Everworld series. A treat and a brief vacation from reality for readers of ANY age group!

Brilliant!

Applegate hit it off with Everworld. The characters are well rounded in an ever changing realm. I love the concept of going from EverWorld to the mundane world and how Applegate includes the popular bands and trends. I also appreciate how Applegate has made April a vegetarian, since I can identify and I know that others may copy this character. The only thing I dislike, is that these books are too short. This is coming from a 21 year old law student. ~~age knows no boundaries when it comes to good tales~~

Another Fantastic Everworld Read

K.A. Applegate really hit a winning idea with the Everworld concept. She's found a way to bring the joys of sci fi and fantasy to the teenagers of America in a way they really understand and enjoy. Every one of these books is a thrilling adventure further into Everworld and the lives of those experiencing it. Tough issues most authors avoid are clearly discussed. Racism and bigotry are clearly addressed as Christopher faces his fears and discovers things he never dared face about himself before. An absolutely fantastic book. I can't wait to read the 7th in the series when it comes out in May. Thanks Ms. Applegate for giving the teens of America something reading to really enjoy.

"Speechless"

This book is so amazing...why must this series come to an end?I can't wait untill the next book comes out! After barely getting thier lives back from Nidhoggr the dragon, the gang sees Hetwan flying above...the land of Ka Anor. Before they enter his land, they meet a god...Zeus's lover..Ganymede.He askes them to join his group (not much of a choice with Hetwan surrounding you in Ka Anor's lands).Needless to say, they follow. They come upon a party, which they must free another god from the Hetwans grasp...if they succed, they make thier way to Olympus..if they don't..both the gods get eaten by Ka Anor, and the rest of the gang is killed...either way..they risk thier lives.
