Colorado real estate and mining magnate Wiley E. "Dutch" Hargrett, from the famed Flying D Ranch, hasn't seen his grand daughter Lisa in over a year. He'd spoiled his daughter, Lisa's mother, rotten and now she's in jail for dealing cocaine. Lisa's father, a rodeo cowboy, got custody and married a girl named Holly. A year later he died as a result of a rodeo accident and he made Holly promise not to let Dutch get a hold of Lisa, because he didn't want her turning out the way her mother had. So Holly took off with the girl right after the funeral. Dutch has hired private detectives to no avail. So now he wants his ace attorney, Jake McKenzie, to find Holly and Lisa. Jake reluctantly takes the job and he finds the small ranch that Holly owns. However, he's not so sure he wants to hand the pair over to Dutch till he finds out what the situation is, so he hires on as a ranch hand. It's not long before the pair fall in love and they marry on Christmas Eve, without Jake ever telling Holly that he'd been hired to find her. However Dutch hasn't given up and Jake has left tracks any idiot could follow, and Dutch Hargrett is no idiot. I really liked this fast-paced romance and I certainly will be on the lookout for any more by Suzanne Carey. She has put it all into this book, romance, suspense, great characters and a super story. You won't go wrong with this one.
