Fatal Justice

I totally disagree with the previous review from Chocolatesleuth. I found this book to pick right up from where The Savior left off. I felt the book had a fast pace to it, still allowing time for the characters to be fully developed. Also unlike Chocolatesleuth, I thought the scene with Rich and Kendra coming together was tasteful and classy, allowing the reader to fill in the details according to their own taste. This is a mystery not a romance novel. This is a greast read for someone who loves mysteries. I highly recommend it.

The Price of Justice

Dr. Kendra Hamilton is driven crazy by her obsession to see her mother's killer get his just dessert. Former lover, Richard T. Marvel, who hasn't fared well since his and Kendra's breakup is once again there with open arms to offer balance to Kendra who through this obsession has deprived herself of much, including the love of a good man. When a murderer has been cleared of all charges, in her mind, there is no time for such things and Kendra is driven to find another way. Written in third person, Fatal Justice is a fair read with characters the author did well in breathing life into. Richard is a colorful person with the perfect balance of arrogance and compassion. He stands out and is larger than life. In this story, I found myself tagging along as the characters made their way through the plot. I could see Ms. Snowden scouring over the manuscript because it is clear that all aspects of this murder mystery were carefully considered, although I do feel most often than not, confessions are dragged out of suspects. The characterization is strong, but was just on this side of lacking the ability to engage my sympathy and I remained emotionally detached. I particularly liked the way the subplots and back-story melded into the plot; it makes for a seamless transition and the reader will not lose his or her way or find the read a cumbersome one. Fatal Justice is definitely worth picking up. Marian E. APOOO BookClub

Consumed With Revenge....Justice Can Become Fatal

Dr. Kendra Hamilton returned to Dunhill County two years later a different person: consumed with retaliation, resentment and anger toward Luke Bertrand. Kendra vowed to avenge her mother's murder...justice would be served by any means necessary. She knew getting justice could become fatal but she also knew if she didn't, justice would not be served. Kendra was not willing to allow her mother's murderer to continue to walk around "a free man" any longer. After Dunhill County didn't convict the prominent and reputable Luke Bertrand, Kendra left the small community without a word to anyone. She knew if she stayed she would run in to him, and she couldn't imagine that after what he had done. Since Kendra had retuned, she has been committed to not allowing anything and especially anybody deter her. Kendra met a family, father and daughter, in desperate need of help. The father is physically ill and his daughter is a very attractive mentally ill woman with the mind capacity of a child. They have life threatening and life altering legal situations that need to be investigated which she could not overlook or ignore. Kendra knew the perfect person that could help her and this family was Richard T. Marvel, ex-homicide detective and also the man that was in her life before she left without a word two years ago. Rich wasn't receptive to Kendra when he saw her for the first time after she had returned. Rich life had changed drastically; he had become an alcoholic with a bitter and broken heart. Rich was at a place in his life Kendra had never seen before, and she didn't like what she had seen. Rich finally agreed to help Kendra because he knew she was not going to stop lurking in to Luke's past until she could find something incriminating against him -- even if it meant losing her life in the process. In their pursuit of justice, they discovered a link between the two cases that would lead the two on a trail of corruption, betrayal and lies. Fatal Justice is an excellent sequel to The Savior, Faye Snowden's debut novel. Faye didn't miss a beat picking up right where The Savior left off. This book is filled with suspense, which had me on the edge of my chair throughout the entire book, mystery and romance. Fatal Justice is well plotted with enough twists and turns to hold readers interest. It is interesting to see how a catastrophic event molds the thinking and actions of a person. This book makes a great discussion. You instantly love, hate, sympathize and understand these characters as though they are personal friends. And on a final note, I was truly impressed with the picture selected for the book cover, very nice and enticing.

Can you ever forget the past?

Kendra Hamilton finds herself drawn back to Dunhill County, California, where two years ago her mother was murdered. She feels that the man who killed her mother, Luke Bertrand must pay. When she returns to Dunhill, she is pulled into the case of Anna Cotton, a stunningly beautiful young woman whose mind is that of a seven-year-old child. Her father has been charged with raping her and getting her pregnant. Temporarily sidetracked, Kendra knows she must protect Anna and her father because Kendra does not believe that he raped his daughter. The one person in town who can help her is the lover and former homicide detective who she left behind, Rich Marvel. Rich is not that happy to see her back. He was so torn up by her leaving that he has sought to drown himself and his memories in alcohol and he is very skeptical of Kendra and her motives. Kendra and Rich clash as the two cases twist and turn, involving more and more people. Faye Snowden's FATAL JUSTICE is excellent suspense. She keeps you on the edge of your chair as the unexpected happens again and again. Is Kendra so obsessed with her mother's killer that she's willing to die? Will Rich stop being angry and suspicious of Kendra long enough to help her? And did Anna's father really rape her or is there a more sinister plot afoot? These and other questions bombard readers as the plot thickens. And thicken it does. The writing is tight and no matter what you think you've figured out - chances are you're wrong. It was definitely a great read. Reviewed by Alice Holman of The RAWSISTAZ™ Reviewers

Fatal Justice by Faye Snowden: An PeoplewholoveGoodBooks Review

The road to your future will sometimes take you back to the past. In this third novel by Faye Snowden she takes suspense and intrigue to a new level. Two years after her mother was murdered Dr. Kendra Hamilton returns home to Dunhill County with one thing on her mind....revenge. When Luke Bertrand used his influence and fortune to walk away a free man ,Kendra was left with nothing but the ghosts from her past. Now Kendra wants to make the man responsible pay for his crimes even if it means losing her own life. However, in the midst of this journey towards justice another case takes root. That of a beautiful young woman named Anna who mentally hasn't developed past a young girl and her ill father who can no longer care for her. When this father is accused of raping and impregnating his own daughter Kendra must go to to the one man she knows can help: the lover she wishes she left behind and wishes she could forget former homicide detective Richard T. Marvel. After Kendra left ,all Rich desired was the peace that eluded him and the solace he thinks he can find within his alcoholic stupor. When she shows up at his cabin asking for his help his peace is shattered and the bitterness, hurt ,and anger he ran from floats to the surface. Kendra is convinced the two cases are related and they both take the plunge into danger beyond that of which either has experienced. They are united in their fight to see that justice is served on the one man they feel is responsible for it all: Luke Bertrand. This book will have you on the edge of your seats waiting for the final showdown. I give this suspense thriller 5 stars. Reviewed by Yvette R. of PeoplewholoveGoodBooks
