A mute boy finds an outlet for his talents as a mime in an obscure circus. Sequel to Burnish Me Bright. This description may be from another edition of this product.
This is the sequel to Burnish Me Bright, the second book in the trilogy about Auguste, the mute boy. After being driven from his village in France, this book finds Auguste attached to a failing circus troupe in Ireland. Because Auguste can't tell them his name, they rename him Tallow and take him on as a mime and a clown. They think at first that he is "far in the day" (that is, not right in the head) but he soon proves his talent. Still, the sad little circus is clearly doomed, and even Auguste's talents are not going to be enough to save them from themselves. This is by far the saddest and most sentimental book in the series, very touching.
