Fancy Nancy, our favorite fancy little girl, is at it again. This time, Nancy has been assigned to write a book report after going to the library. Determined to do a great job, she spends all her time decorating the cover of the book report, and not enough time actually writing the book report. When she is supposed to read the book report to the rest of the class she is embarrassed because it is only two lines long. Luckily the teacher lets her describe the book to the class instead. Using her characteristic "fancy" vocabulary, Nancy learns that the important thing in what is in the book report, not what's on the cover. Featuring an enjoyable story and darling illustrations, this book is likely to appeal to fancy girls in first or second grade.
Love her!!

Jane O'Connor has done it again. She writes terrific books about a relateable character. My daughter reminds me of Fancy Nancy and would probably do her first book report just like she did. I won't tell you what happened, but if your child procrastinates then they will learn something from this book.
Fancier words (synonyms)

Nancy doesn't just use ordinary words, she uses fancy words to describe her surroundings. This is a great book to introduce the usage of a thesaurus with children. I use her books to encourage my students to choose synonyms (from a thesaurus) in their creative writing to replace worn out words with "fancier" words the way Fancy Nancy does.
