Good book. Chapter 11 is terrible!!

Every therapist and counselor or anyone training to be one would benefit greatly from reading this book! I am neither. I was raised in a dysfunctional family and unfortunately married into an extremely dysfunctional and abusive family. This book was helpful to me. That being said, chapter 11 should be read with caution. It is great if couples can work out differences and stay together if they don’t have abuse in their relationship. Unfortunately, women are abused a lot more than anyone wants to admit. Too many turn a blind eye to it or worse; further the abuse instead of seeing the abuse the victim is going through. If any abuse is present everyone is better off if the relationship ends. I still feel that this book was helpful. I think it is a good tool to use along with counseling or if you cannot go to counseling this book could be a great alternative along with other books that will help you heal from your particular situation. I am glad I read this book.
