As a resident of the Oregon Coast, I have found this book to be one of my favorites when I am searching for information about a certain bird. It has interesting observations about their behavior than many of my larger, more expensive books do not mention. A great guide for bird lovers of this area.
An excellent book for beginning bird watchers

This book will help the novice to identify birds in Oregon, Washington and British Columbia with great accuracy. It covers sea birds, suburban, mountain, desert and forest birds. The paintings are quite helpful because you learn to look for the 'type' of bird, rather than trying to match the bird feather-for-feather to a photograph. Information includes habitat, food, migration, calls, population gains/losses, and in some cases, the origin of the bird. The size makes it easy to carry and easy to keep next to your binoculars on the window sill. It is comprehensive and very easy to use. This has been one of my favorite gifts for friends, along with a bird feeder to hang in their backyard.
