We are fortunate when a person who has a deep understanding of our human foibles also possesses the ability to write with such clarity about the importance of forgiving others and ourselves for falling to them. Kerry Casey is our luck with this intimate story that turned me into a anthropoligist digging up my own bones. The last time I felt this strongly about a novel was the moment I finished Zen and the "Art of Motorcycle Maintenance." But with Casey's book I experienced this from the first few pages and the story is at once more accessible and universal. I seldom recommend books. This one gets my full email list.
I can't wait for the second book.....

I purchased this at a wonderful little bookstore called Red Berry Books outside of Cable, WI based on their recommendation and I am so glad I did. It is definitely on my list of all time favorite books I've read. Two young boys from very different backgrounds meet and become friends because of tragedies in each of their lives. If you have ever spent time in northern Minnesota you will enjoy this book because of the places the author mentions as well as the way he has captured in words the northern midwest spirit. It's different from any book I've read and I am really looking forward to his next book. I hope it's soon - I need to know what happens!
