Our favorite couples book

This is an exceptional book on increasing communication and growth amoung couples. My husband and I received it as a wedding gift and now give copies to other couples, both already married and newly weds. I think we've found at least twenty used copies to give as gifts and plan to buy more. I hope it's republished in the future. The authors do a great job making "devotional" time something realistic as well as critical in the development of marriage. We read the book over two years ago and still practice values we learned by having "faith tango" time Saturday mornings. This time usually includes coffee in the sunroom while praying and reading a marriage book together. Highly recommended.

Wonderful book! Very practical and helpful!

At first, I thought this book would be about couples having devotional time together, but the authors look at a much broader definition of spiritual growth. This book will help couples become closer together and closer to God, and will help facilitate good communication, which is often the #1 problem in marriage. You will read about how Carolyn and Craig started setting aside time on Saturday mornings, early in their marriage, and how that has really benefited their relationship over the years (they've been married for over 28 years now). They set aside that time to "just talk" and they make it a priority - they do everything possible to avoid anything interfering with that time. They also talk about the "S" word - submission, which is such a hot topic in Christian marriage. I really liked how they explained submission and what it means to live sacrificially. There's a lot of great ideas in this book about how to improve your communication and near the end of the book, there is one chapter mostly for women and one mostly for men. Both are excellent. The authors are very real and don't give the impression at all that they are the perfect couple with no problems. They tell about some of their disagreements and how they were resolved. I think their vulnerability in their writing will help other couples a great deal!I highly recommend this book! You might want to check out my other reviews of Christian books and music.
