Hebrews 11:1 ... Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Faith has both "substance" and "evidence" ... Faith is not like a vapor floating about in the sky. Faith is both "substance" and "evidence". If you throw a stone into a pond a ripple occurs. You don't have to try to cause a ripple. It is a natural result of the stone hitting the water. You couldn't even keep the ripple from happening if you tried. Faith is like that. When you hear something from God and believe what you have heard you act on what you have heard. Can you imagine how the people in Noah's community felt when Noah started building the ark? This was both substance and evidence of Noah's faith in God telling him to do something. And when Noah started leading all the animals, two by two, into that ark ... what about that? By then there was probably a pretty good size crowd of people watching him daily. When we act on something God has told us, we will certainly get attention from those standing by as they watch us. And sometimes it is a battle to stay on the road set before us by God, for unbelievers will often try to pull us off the path. This book is about hearing from God, believing what God says to us, holding onto belief in what God has said, not letting people pull you off the path ... running the course to the end!
