I thought that this was a very good book. Faith Weaver left Los Banos, California, her hometown, after her sisters then boyfriend (and current husband) raped her. She left behind her boyfriend Jay Whitfield, who eventually married and had two sons. 18 Years after the rape, Faith is back for a party for her parents and goes to drop of a casserole at the Whitfield house. Jay, whose wife had died 5 years before, needed a babysiter and Faith needed something to do for the two months until the party and she could leave. In between battling with Jays older son about taking showers and nutering his younger son Faith and Jay fall in love again even though Faith's sister Patty does not think that it is a good idea and does not even like Faith.
The Gift of Love

Susan Floyd's books are unique, an exploration of love on many different levels, and full of warmth and humor and Real Life. The thing I really love about Faith and Our Father is the heartfelt emotion and honesty of the characters--particularly between the heroine and her sister, and the sizzle AND the genuineness of feeling between the heroine and the hero. Susan Floyd has a distinctive "voice," a big heart, and a clear eye for the real dilemmas of life. Reading her work is not just entertaining, it makes me think and feel on a deep level. Highly recommended.
a wonderful tale of high school sweethearts...and then some.

This book is a must read! Jay Whitfield is a widow with two young sons to raise. In comes Faith Weaver, his high school sweetheart, who is back in town to "help" plan a party for her parents. Jay knows that Faith has secrets she is hiding and he finds himself falling in love with her all over again as she takes on the temporary nanny position for his sons. Faith's story will make you cry but at the same time, I found myself laughing over the antics of "dirty" Andy and little Sam with the trick stomach. The storyline in this book is backed up by a cast of supporting characters, Jay's parents and children, and Faith's family also. Although the romance between Jay and Faith drags at times, the book is written very well overall.
