For centuries, people have used fairy tales to understand innate truths about their world. The power of mythological beings, the search for souls, and our human quest for goodness forge such tales and give them life. Through them, we absorb morals and learn not just that something is good, but also why it's good. They give us a mirror to reflect our own actions even when that mirror is so fantastical that the moral slips by us whilst our imagination was otherwise engaged. However, much has changed about our world since the Brothers Grimm speculated on the motives of a princess who kisses frogs, or Hans Christian Anderson sounded the alarm on the dangers of dancing in front of churches. Therefore, I present to you a set of fairy tales for the modern witch. Some are reimagined from their ancient counterparts, and some are of my own devising. I hope they speak to your little witchy heart, and you receive them with all the love sent through these pages from my home to yours. Andrea Hamilton is a writer, wife and pet mother currently living in the relative isolation of a non-essential worker. Her hobbies include dancing in front of churches, knitting, and wearing highly inappropriate footwear. Perhaps not all at once, though stranger things have happened.
