The book nobody wanted to write, but everyone wanted to have

Here is a book that all mathematicians and libraries would love to have, but very few people would have the discipline to write. This is the ultimate gemoetry reference guide, written in a style that is understandable by all students of mathematics. It has an excellent biographical section and a fascinating chronological timeline that let's you know what happened in what year. I want to personally thank Dr. Gorini for taking on a project that many of us in the mathematics field have avoided for many years. It belongs on all our shelves.

A high quality reference in geometry

As the amount of knowledge in the possession of the human species continues to expand at an amazing rate, concise, accurate references are becoming even more essential in the daily life of students and practitioners. Unfortunately, some of them do it wrong, others try to do too much and some do too little. In this case, the degree of precision is within the bounds of excellent. Gorini starts with geometry and stays on message. The first 180 pages of the book is a glossary of terms used in geometry. The definitions are concise, there is very little in the way of extraneous words. Section two is devoted to short biographies of those who made geometry what it is today. Forty six pages in length and in alphabetical order, it also contains very few extra words, although the coverage is complete. Section three is a chronology of the major historical events in geometry, starting with the building of the great pyramid at Giza and ending with the results of a NASA space mission being conducted in 2003. Section 4 is a collection of major theorems, constructions and geometric figures. This is the most complete reference in geometry that I have ever seen and it belongs in every library, both public and academic.Published in the recreational mathematics e-mail newsletter, reprinted with permission.
