The Phenomenon that IS Facebook

Emily Liebert had a brilliant concept for a book, and Facebook Fairytales doesn't disappoint. As a fan of this phenomenal social networking website and because I have personal experience with both finding long-lost friends and also being found, I was eager to read her collection of "Modern Day Miracles to Inspire the Human Spirit." From the first page, I couldn't put it down. It's well-researched, well-written, relatable and highly entertaining. The reader is guaranteed to meet individuals he or she will immediately want to "friend." Liebert's collection includes some stories that might border on "miraculous," however, I felt they were actually more mundane--and more relatable to all of us who use the site. The stories do, however, range from the poignant tales of a son finding his biological father and a woman finding a kidney donor, to something as simple as one person finding a lost, six-toed cat named "Bob." Reading the book definitely inspired me to use the site (even more) to locate other long-lost friends and acquaintances from my past. I should note I initially joined just to keep an eye on my kids . . . and yet, I've become hooked. Very well done. A great read and I highly recommend this book. Candy for the Soul

Facebook Fairytales is a collection of real-life dreams come true! The author makes you feel like she is telling you the story of the most incredible thing that happened to a good friend of hers- almost as if you were chatting online or over the phone. It is a delight to read and so inspirational...and aesthetically beautiful!

a must read

I received this book as a gift from my niece who is a college student and thought i should know something about social networking. All I knew was that everyone seemed to be on facebook. Now i understand not only why but how powerful facebook is to enable life's changes and advances. Whether is it making connections for adoptions or advancing careers or enabling transplantation of a organ to ensure a life. I was also fully amazed at the role Facebook played in the election of Barack Obama. Emily Liebert tells these stories in a compelling voice and the imperative becomes clear. Becoming Facebook smart is essential for anyone who wants to maximize opportunity or seek to solve problems that have seemed to have no solutions. The author captures the meaning of these moments, the stories jump off the pages, and I realized that I too must be a member of this community. Hopefully the author will follow up with a how to book to ingite our imagination as we begin to harness the power of the extraordinary tool -- Facebook. The book is very well presented with good use of color and beautiful paper which enhances it as a gift book. FACEBOOK is not just for the college crowd. It is very exciting.

An Optimistic Read

If you're looking for 25 short and very contemporary stories of everyday people becoming more then everyday people via social networking, then look no further, this is the book for you. If you don't see the value in social networking and believe it to be a complete waste of time, then look no further, this is the book for you. If you're new or bored with social networking and wondering what it's really capable of doing, then look no further, this is the book for you. If you think social networking is all about "Farmville" & "Mafia Wars" then: A) I'm truly surprised that you are even reading a book review... good for you ;) B) Look no further, this book is for you.

Great read

I was reluctant to use Facebook but this book shows the powerful and wonderful possibilities. The 25 stories are diverse and span the range of heartwarming romance, to political efforts of the Obama administration to gain voters. And the interview with Mark Zuckerberg (Facebook founder and CEO) is inspiring. Emily Liebert truly captured the spirit of each person interviewed. This is a great book that every user of social media should buy.
