I like the old, old Harlequin Romance books because to me they have more of a plot, the story is more in depth, and the charters are less card board. The newer books are again in my opinion more about how often the alpha m/f have sex, or teach us how to have sex. Also most of the writers mistake good sex for a story. And if that isn't bad enough the soft porn gives an account of a virgin having sex over and over without any discomfort...? Of course most of the time the lack of sex has the writer make the alpha male, old, mean, cruel, full of hate or even abusive. This story is the reason I keep reading the old, old Harlequin Romance books, it has cruel people in it, but not the alpha male, he is a true hero. Gavin Tighe has 7-yr-old twins that live with him, when they are not away at school, although I have a problem with children as young as 7 being at a boarding school...well I guess that is my problem. Sophy Wade is in love Peter Fisher, but Peter sees Sophy as the rest of her family; dull, sweet and boring. 19 yr-old Sophy's mother Sara and her Gilbert treat Sophy like a dimwit, her sister Cassandra makes it her duty to make fun of Sophy as often as she can. Her Brother Nick thinks she has no feelings other than what they need her to have as the least favorite child in the family. Now I would have thought Sophy being the baby would have everyone trying to run her life for her but really caring about the choices she makes. NOT! Then at a dinner, dance lecture. Nick, Cass her husband Rob and Peter are eager to hear the lecturer at the town hall because Gavin Tighe is a man on the move. Peter wants to be just like him. But the dinner goes very bad for Sophy when she accidentally tips her drink and most of it goes into her lap. None of her family come to her rescue, they all ignore her and laugh at the accident especially Cass. So the special evening for Sophy was ruined. Later Cass finds an article in a magazine of an interview Gavin gave and Cass made sure she showed it to Sophy, why, I don't really know, but Peter takes the advice to heart. The advise, is if a man has a wife who isn't his equal, he is going to be weighted down by her, and it would be best for him to rid himself of such a burden. Sophy hears Peter telling her brother Nick that although he is found of Sophy she is holding him back, and he doesn't want to hurt her, but he must get rid of her fast. Sophy gets angry and she decides to tell Gavin a few home truths about love. But when she gets to his house she finds he needs help with his niece and nephew. She claims to be answering an advertisement. Before long the twins have her believing that they are being raised by a wicked uncle. Then the truth comes out, and Gavin seems to be ready to get rid of Sophy too, but he finds he doesn't want her out of his life. When her family finds out she is working for Gavin Tighe they are shocked, and Cass even makes snide remarks of Sophy's slyness. Sophy falls for both the kids and their unc
