When this series first came out, I bought all the first 6 volumes and waited for the next ones. Now several years later, I found that the publisher cut the rest od the series, describing them as their " biggest financial loss in recent years. That said, the Fabled Lands was a truly innovative and fascinating concept, and I personally played it until I had been just about everywhere and done just about everything. Recently, I saw an article online where Dave Morris expressed an interest in finishing the series, possibly as an online publication. Hopefully this will happen, and I can finish exploring the Fabled Lands.
Fabled Lands Review

I am a lover of fantasy literature and art. I found the whole Time-Life "Enchanted World" series to be highly inspirational and enlightening. The "Fabled Lands" volume of this series, however, had a particularly profound effect on my consciousness. The artwork, first of all was fantastic, far beyond anything I had before encountered in such a collection. The illustrations convey powerful moods and draw the reader irresistably into the story. The literary content is written from a perspective that suggests a realism to the folklore. This I thought a very tasteful and appropriately reverent presentation of the material. If you are a lover of magic and all things wonderful and beautiful I highly recommend this book.
This epic of unlimited adventures is fantastic!

Even though I am disappointed that I could not find issues 7-12, I absolutely love the idea of an rpg story book where you can go anywhere you like. An excellent series and a credit to the authors.

Although I only have two of the Fabled Lands books, I've found them to be great fun. True - after a while, when you've been to every place lots of times, they lose some of their attraction. But I really like the way you can start with any book, yet enlarge the scope of your adventures with each new one that you buy. I believe that they are very well thought out, with great storylines. They've kept me up 'til all hours at night, just thinking to myself: only a few more minutes... I'd recommend them to anyone interested in Fantasy literature or RPGs.
