Excellent guide!

Excellent edition full of interesting facts. Helped to make my trip more interesting and meaningful!

Very comprehensive

Not sure about how up to date it is but it's good reading

Excellent

Book came sooner that I was expecting. It was in every bit as good as condition that it was described. The seller is outstanding and one I would use agin in the future.

The best guide available

I just returned from spending a week in Portugal, and recommend this book whole-heartedly. I noticed many other tourists carrying this book (written in different languages!). The graphics are a must if you want to decide which of the many, many sites you want to see within a limited amount of time. Recommendations on walking tours are very helpful, and the descriptions of the history behind each site add significantly to what you get out of each visit. If I were to ask for any improvements on this book, I would ask for two things: 1) include a short language CD of the basic phrases listed in the back of the book to aid understanding of the language (reading Portuguese on paper does NOT work, since it sounds so unbelievably different than it looks), and 2) include more detail regarding maps for the longer-distance routes (ie., for when someone wants to rent a car). The intra-city maps are right-on, but the long-distance routes need alot more detail. Portugal itself is a beautiful country (see my pics if you like: www.imageevent.com/tvmule/portugal), and I hope to return one day to see the rest of the country (one week is much too short!). PS - if you rent a car, be prepared to deal with ALOT of impatient drivers, as the locals like to drive fast and are always in a hurry :)

Very useful

Very useful. Got me around from Algarve to Porto, hassle-free and happy.

The best travel book I have ever read

Words don't do this book justice. A long time lover of Lonely Planet guides, I was attracted to the nice pictures of this Eyewitness guide :-) And it's actually the pictures that make this book so great. The graphics have an appeal that just make you want to keep on reading it. It gives you good visual points of reference to find your way around. It helps you prioritize your trip based on more than the writer's prose. There is plenty of detail, more emphasizing the places to see and things to do than details like hotels and restaurants. After saying that, please note that the restaurant guide at the back of the book recomends 5-6 places in each location, and I have yet to be dissapointed by any of the places. After my travels, this book be a prize on my bookshelf. I will definately try buy the Italian edition in preparation for my Italian trip.

Excellent

This book is a must for any traveller. Get all the information. Includes 3d pictures and layout of castles. You wont need to buy extra pamphlets at each tourist site.
