We have had this book for awhile now and all of my kids have enjoyed playing with this interactive sound book. While it is true that the book's clock only has 5 minute increments, and not one minute increments, it is not true that the hour hand can ONLY be placed on a number. It can be placed between 7 and 8, or 8 and 9, etc. and will announce the time correctly when the hour hand is placed halfway between the numbers (if it's too close to the next number it does announce the time as the next hour, and vice versa). The fact that the clock is not particularly precise seems inconsequential to me, considering that it's for preschoolers. For my kids it has been a fun introduction to telling time and to the concept of time generally. The book features Dora getting ready for her day at 7 am, having breakfast at 7:45, going to school at 8:30, playing outside at 2:30, cleaning up at 4:15, dinner at 6:00, brushing teeth at 8:00 and going to bed at 8:30, and asks your child to set the clock at those times. It also has a feature that asks your child to set the clock at the time he or she gets ready, has breakfast, goes to school, etc., and will announce the time on the clock when your child presses a button. Dora's times are announced in English and Spanish; everything else is announced only in English.
