plain talking explanations

Harvey hopes to offer you an easy acquaintance with the many features of Excel. As with other books in this series, little prior knowledge of this subject is assumed. Instead, he describes in plain terms what many common capabilities exist. Some of these may indeed be used with formidable complexity, like having a cell be an intricate function of many other cells. But by offering simple examples, you can see how to utilise these features. By the way, this example of a cell being a function of one or more other cells is of course the key idea of a spreadsheet. It dates back to when they only existed in hardcopy form. While Excel now offers a large portfolio of features, this is still the most important and fundamental one. If you study this book, ensure that you have this knowledge well understood.
