Murderous Good Reading

I recently bought Evil Wives very cheaply at Barnes and Noble because I've started to enjoy reading true crime books, especially those about female criminals. I had read or heard about several of the women in this book, including Susan Smith, Aileen Wuornos, Pamela Smart, Marie Hilley and Betty Broderick. Some of the others I was not as familiar with, however, all had very interesting stories to tell. The pictures and details in each story were fascinating, but they were brief of course and made me want to read more on some of these womens' stories. One complaint I had with the book was the fact that as a Canadian writer (I can't fault him for that) the author kept spelling words differently than we in America do. For instance, he spelled the word 'fetal' as 'foetal' with an unnecessary 'o' in the word. There were plenty of examples of this throughout the book, which I'll admit got on my nerves. He also refers to a car trunk as a boot and one section about murderess Jessica McCord is called 'A boot full of burning bodies.' Most people will have no idea what that means, thinking that it makes no sense. The picture shows a car trunk, which might give some indication and he actually refers to it as a trunk a few times, but more often than not calls it a boot. Again, I didn't really like this, but these minor complaints did nothing to take away from the material, which I thoroughly enjoyed. I would love to find more books like this one with this subject matter because I find it fascinating.
