Richie Tankersley Cusick is one of my favorite YA writers. The first time I read this book I honestly wasn't impressed. It's such a short book and all of her other books are longer and they have more dialogue. I recently read it again and was pleasantly surprised. It's one of those books where you want to read every sentence or you'll miss something. The characters are a lot more interesting than I remember too. This books takes place over the span of only a few days and has only a handful of characters. Meg Danton's mother has volunteered her to take care of an ill aunt whose house is in an isolated part of the bayou. As the days pass things happen to Meg that can't be explained which leads to an fascinating climax. At the moment the book is expensive though. You might want to keep an eye out for it at used book stores.

I thought this was a really good book. the charecters were great your felf like you get to know them really well. it is a thriller i really enjoyed this book i read this book in 2 days and i have read it four times and every time i got a thill. i recomend this book for 13 years and up i could be 20 and still enjoy this book. the ending left you hanging there but i just filled the blanks with my own imagination which i have a feeling that is what the author wanted... read it you will love it
Must have been one of her first books?

I'm not sure how to describe this exactly: it was an okay book, but I was sort of disapointed. It sounded very young, like maybe it was one of her first books. But that doesn't make since, since she was writing books in the 80s. Go figure. Anyway, I would recommend this book for preteens, and not really for people have read a lot of her other books, because you'll be let down, I garuntee it. The characters are thin, and the suspense isn't very well built. But, since the ending was pretty cool, and she IS my fave author, I'll give it 4 stars.
